In honor of the 25th Anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, The “U-Be The Change” Campaign and its network of educational, civic, religious, and social partners joined the National Alliance of Faith & Justice and the Pen or Pencil Network in 100 Days of Service and Non-Violence.
Students from the College of Lake County, Waukegan, North Chicago School Districts, Boys & Girls Club, Youth Conservation, Waukegan Housing Authority, and the Non-Violent Task Forces, will experience Dr. Martin Luther King’s message of non violence and service with 100 Days of Service & Non-Violence.

The campaign launched Monday, January 17, 2011, during the Annual Youth Conservation MLK Day of service; will culminate April 28, 2011 with the Beloved Community Forum at the College of Lake County.

Students will be engaged in:

• At least two service projects where participants are engaged in service activities in the community;
• Teaching forums that espouse Dr. King’s lessons of using non-violent means to effect social change;
• Focus groups to identify issues and resolutions to problems in the community; and
• Change Clusters on Attitudes, the Power of the Spoken Word and the Concept of Personal Power and Action
